After months of collaboration with the community, we’re excited to finally unveil our long-awaited mini ITX case for the Turing Pi 2 and 2.5 boards! This case is designed to meet the needs of hobbyists and developers looking for a compact yet highly functional solution. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the details of the case and the thinking behind its design.

Community-Driven Design

One of the most exciting aspects of this project was the collaboration with our community. Every step of the way, we kept your feedback at the forefront, shaping the case to fit your needs. Our primary goals were to ensure:

  • Quick and easy access to the top and bottom of the board
  • Support for internal and external PSUs
  • Silent operation
  • Great cooling
  • Customizability for future tweaks and adjustments

Compact but Functional

We wanted to create a case that is both compact and functional. Made from lightweight yet durable aluminum, the case measures 240 x 240 x 100 mm. We worked through several iterations to make it as small as possible while still providing easy access to every key part of the board.
To suit different environments and preferences, the case can be placed either vertically or horizontally. Whether you’re limited on desk space or prefer a particular layout, this flexibility ensures the case works for you.

Easy Access: Magnetic Lids

One of the standout features of this case is its magnetic top and bottom lids. These make it incredibly easy to access both the nodes and ports on the top and the NVMe drives and SD cards on the bottom. No more fiddling with screws when you need to make a quick adjustment or swap out components!

Storage & Power Options

The case supports up to three 2.5” HDDs, offering plenty of storage for your projects. In terms of power, it accommodates both a Flex ATX PSU or a Pico PSU with an external power brick, giving you flexibility depending on your setup.

We’ve also left extra space at the bottom for heatsinks on the NVMe drives and included a cable management system to keep everything tidy.

I/O Panel and Front Ports

The backside of the case features an I/O panel designed specifically for the Turing Pi 2.5 but also works well with the Turing Pi 2. You’ll also find a port for an external antenna, plus plugs for both internal and external PSU connections.

On the front, we’ve included two USB 3.0 ports and a power button with an LED light, giving you quick and easy access to essential functions.

Built for Customization

We designed the case with customization in mind. You’ll find plenty of extra screw holes to experiment with the internal structure. All internal components are detachable, allowing you to easily modify or upgrade the setup.

For those looking to take customization even further, we’ll be sharing CAD files for some of the internal components, such as the I/O panel and HDD bay. This way, you can adapt and tweak the design to fit your unique needs.

Conclusion

In summary, our new mini ITX case for Turing Pi 2 and 2.5 boards offers a compact, flexible, and highly customizable solution. With features like magnetic lids for easy access, versatile storage and power options, and a design focused on silent operation and cooling, it’s built to meet the demands of both casual users and serious developers.

We can’t wait to hear what you think! Stay tuned for more updates, including access to the CAD files and further details on how to make the most of this versatile case. Feel free to share your feedback, and let us know how you’re using your new Turing Pi case!
